Carrwood Primary School

Year 2 Bluebell

Welcome to Year 2 Bluebell!

Our teacher is Miss Kosar and Miss Jamil is our teaching assistant. We are also lucky to be supported by Mrs Smith, Mrs Allan and Miss Yasin who work with us at different points throughout the week.

Here are some pictures of our classroom:

In Year 2 Bluebell, we are proud to follow our three school rules: Be Ready, Be Respectful and Be Safe. These help us create a happy, positive classroom where everyone can learn and succeed.

We show we are ready by listening carefully, following instructions and being prepared to learn. We show respect by being kind to ourselves, others and our environment. We stay safe by following routines and using kind hands and words.

Everyone in our class has important responsibilities, helping us to work together as a team. We always try our best and celebrate our achievements along the way.

Children earn Dojo points for demonstrating our school values, which can be exchanged for rewards in the Dojo Shop. We also celebrate success with stickers, postcards home and our weekly Gold Award for children who go above and beyond

Phonics and Reading in Year 2

In Year 2, we continue with our daily Read, Write Inc phonics lessons which help us continue to build reading speed, fluency and confidence. Each child will be provided with a book bag which contains a reading book that is matched to their current phonic stage. As well as the book we have been reading during Read Write Inc sessions we have a ‘Book Bag’ book which is new to us and works on the same skills. Children will also bring home a book labelled “reading for pleasure” which can be enjoyed as a family at any time of the day. Book bags should be brought into school every day so children can practise their reading both at home and in class. Books are changed every Monday.  Each time your child reads at home, please sign the reading bookmark to acknowledge this. When the bookmark is completed, and has been signed 10 times, this will be entered in to a raffle where your child could win an exciting prize. The raffle will be held each half term so the more times your child reads, the more bookmarks will be completed which means the chance of your child winning the prize is greater too!

Year Group Authors

Each term we focus on a particular author. We read the stories they have written, learn facts about them and their career as an author. Our current authors are:
