Our class teacher is Mr Cadman

Our teaching assistant is Miss Smith

Our HLTA is Mrs Austerfield

This half term we are working on our topic ‘Our Wonderful World’. Our learning is going to be focused on water around the world. We will discover which areas of the world have water scarcity and learn the reasons for this. We will learn about the water cycle and how rivers are formed. Also, we will learn a variety of ways to save water at home as well as at school.

Our homework project is to create a 3d model of the water cycle, including clear labels and descriptions.

Our class novel is ‘Holes’ by Louis Sachar. We are using Talk for Writing to write our own rags to riches story, based on Holes. We will be improving our use of openers and powerful vocabulary. We will also use Talk for Writing to write narrative letters from the point of view of a child at Camp Green Lake. The basic skills of handwriting, spelling, punctuation and grammar will be focused on also.

Number and place value will be addressed during the first half term with a strong emphasis on learning number facts including multiplication and division facts to 12x12. It is vital that the children learn the value of digits and strategies for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
