I am privileged to be the Head Teacher and look forward to working with everyone in ensuring Carrwood Primary School continues to provide the best education it can for all children.

All who are involved at Carrwood are fortunate to see the children’s progress and achievement on a daily basis. Please do keep revisiting our website as it will provide a small snap shot of the amazing things that happen at Carrwood. I look forward to working with you all and if you see me around school, do feel free to stop and have a chat so that we can work together to ensure Carrwood Primary School continues to progress and develop.

On Thursday 2nd March we celebrated World Book Day.

Our whole school theme was  ‘Bedtime Stories’.  We were able to come to school in fancy dress either as a character from one of our favourite bedtime story book or in our pyjamas.  Everyone got involved, children and teaching staff.  We all looked fantastic!!

Every class did book themed activities throughout the day and enjoyed Milk and Cookies nearer home time!

Thank you to everyone that took part to make this day amazing!! Carrwood Primary School is taking part in Readathon.

Readathon is the UK's Sponsored Reading Event. Readathon does something amazing. It  gets children reading for fun through a sponsored read in school. The money raised provides children's hospitals with regular storyteller visits, plus a mobile bookcase jam-packed full of brand-new books, which are replenished every six weeks.

This is a chance for all the children at Carrwood to read lots of different types of books; comics, poetry, non-fiction books and even listen to stories.

For any more information visit www.readathon.org where there are many ideas for books, games and much more. Click to download the newsletter from Readathon

Our Year 6 entered a poetry competition for a chance to be involved in a poetry book.  We are so proud to see so many of our Year 6 children being accepted to be a part of the book.  The book will be on sale soon and you will be able to see your child’s work in print.  Well done Year 6!

Here at Carrwood Primary School, we have all been hard at work fundraising for this years Children in Need. Learners and Staff have got them selves involved in activities all around school, including our 'Spotacular' walks, taking part in a superhero themed non-uniform day and buying Children in Need festival wristbands and Pudsey ears.

Generosity from family and friends in supporting your children has helped raised over £1600 for Children in Need! This is the largest amount we have ever raised in any charity fundraiser. We are exceptional proud of our learners, ours staff and our parents for making this outstanding result possible! Click on the images below to take a look at what we got up to on Children in Need. This year we are having a really big push on the importance of reading. As well as us hearing your child read at school we'd like you to hear your child read at home on a regular basis. We're taking part in 'readathon,' where we want to see how many books children and staff can read in a year. How many books do you think you will read this year?

Below is a picture of me reading a book. Do you recognise it from any of the Christmas adverts? I wonder what your favourite book is at the moment and will it be the same at the end of the year when you've read so many books?
